Welcome...

BRJ Road Running Club are Huntingdon's original England Athletics affiliated running club. We are a small, friendly club of around 80 catering for runners and joggers of all ages and standards. Regular club runs take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Ladies run is held on Mondays.

The latest schedule detailing October runs can be found on the Training Page.

Frostbite Race 1 - St Neots

BRJ fielded a team of over 30 runners for the opening race of the Frostbite series hosted by Riverside Runners at Priory Park, St Neots. The race was staged in appalling weather making conditions on the course even more challenging than usual, so much so that three of the BRJ squad ended up making a trip to A and E.

In the absence of the injured Pete Galpin, it was Lee Brooks who lead the team home, closely followed by John Wright and Ryan Woolf. Ryan making his debut in the St Neots event. First home for the ladies was Tracy Moore, also making her debut in the Frosbite.

The Junior team were steered home once again by last season’s runner of the year – Alys Moore. The seniors ran in 9th on the day and the juniors 10th.

The second race in the series takes place on 9th on November and will be hosted by Bushfield Joggers. Full Results

Great North Run

Burnham-on-Sea Half

A team of runners from BRJ also made there way to Newcastle to take part in the world's biggest and most prestigious half-marathon - The Great North Run. Rachel Real and Brendan Vaughan were first home in just over 1hour and 57 mins.

In what has now become a bit of a BRJ tradition several of team completed the run in full fancy dress to help raise money for charity.

Congratulations to Tony Cotton, whos time of 1:47:42 in the Burnham-on-Sea Half Marathon earned him first prize in the MV70 category.

Berlin Marathon

Stephen and Tony!

Despite drama getting to the start of the Berlin Marathon, Lorna Higgins kept her cool as she improved her marathon PB by an impressive 13 mins 1 secs since Edinburgh 2007. Lorna also had a negative split in the second half of the race, being some 18 secs quicker. More importantly, Lorna has taken over from Sue Yendley as Club Ladies Marathon champion by beating the time, set at London in 2003 (3:34:36), by nearly 6 mins. On her return Lorna commented, "...all in all, Berlin was a good experience and it has taught me a great deal especially about how much I love running".

Also running at Berlin were team mates Stephen Woods and Tony Hucklesby. Stephen improving his marathon PB by over a minute and a half. By all accounts a fabulous time was had by all!

Congratulations too from BRJ to Anne Furbank of Riverside Runners who smashed the UK Marathon Record for her age category. Chapeau!

Three members of the club - Phil Pearsons, Ryan Woolf and Gillian Peck made there way to Diss to run in Norfolk's oldest road race. Phil stayed with Ryan up to nine(ish) miles where he left me (Phil). Ryan finished in a time of 1:57:10(50th place), Phil 2:03:00(67th place). Gillian's time of 2:04:41(71st place) won her third prize in the LV40 category.
